Après maintes représentations sur la scène de nombreuses salles en France et à l’étranger (dernièrement avec la compagnie de danse
YK Projects à Berlin et au Nigéria dans la production de
We Almost Forgot), Gwen Rakotovao, pose, cette fois-ci, ses valises à Paris, le temps de préparer
Esperanto, sa nouvelle pièce de danse solo.
Riche de ses expériences et de ses compétences, la talentueuse danseuse de 26 ans, formée à l’Institut Rick Odums à Paris et à la prestigieuse école de danse Alvin Ailey de New-York, compte bien apporter une touche d’optimisme dans ce contexte actuel pesant en misant sur sa double culture, française et malgache, pour fédérer le public et « diffuser les couleurs de l’humanité ». Je suis fière d’être malgache et je suis aussi fière d’être française et ça ne devrait pas déranger. Cela devrait être une richesse. Je crois qu’il est temps de faire la paix avec notre histoire commune malgré que ce soit une histoire violente. Il faut avancer et être fier de notre diversité, souligne-t-elle.
La pièce, porteuse d’espoir et d’harmonie, est l’aboutissement d’un projet conçu dans le cadre d’une résidence artistique qui a eu lieu en juillet dernier dans le Finistère et dont l’ébauche a été accueillie chaleureusement par le public breton.
Gwen Rakotovao, qui se veut messager de la paix, présentera la Première samedi 14 janvier en Normandie puis à Paris.

« ESPERANTO », GWEN RAKOTOVAO’S SOLO DANCE PIECE – ENG VERSION
After she has performed in many dance theaters, in France and abroad (lately with the YK Projects‘s dance company in Berlin and Nigeria for the production of We Almost Forgot), Gwen Rakotovao, has decided to settle in Paris for a while, just the time to work on « Esperanto », her next solo dance piece.
With her wealth of experience and competencies, the 26-year-old talented dancer, who attended the Paris Rick Odums Institute and also the prestigious New-York based school Alvin Ailey, is willing to inject a note of optimism in this current difficult context, sticking to her multicultural identity, French and Malagasy, so that to bring the audience together and « convey the colours of humanity ». « I am proud of being Malagasy and also proud of being French and that should not disturb. That should be a wealth. I think it is high time to come to terms with our common history although it is a violent one. We need to move forward and be proud of our diversity », she stresses.
The piece, that brings hope and harmony is the culmination of a project created during the Artistic Residency that took place in Finistere (a French Department) last July and whose excerpt from the show was warmly welcome in Brittany.
Gwen Rakotovao, who is acting as a messenger of peace, will introduce the dance piece on Saturday 14 January 2017 in Normandy and in Paris.
